One Source

The words of Morihei Ueshiba that “people have forgotten about everything coming from one origin” are usually taken abstractive, having obscure meaning. But these words actually carry the Great knowledge necessary for the human being to realize their designation in our world.

As mentioned, everything that exists in our world comes from the One Origin. The One Origin is Single, containing everything within. But in our world, in contrast, we perceive opposite things as black and white, sweet and bitter, good and evil, etc. - as well as everything else between two extremes. If our world comes from the One Origin, where everything is one - then how can opposite things discovered in our world be merged into unity in this single Source? How is that possible?

It is about the true reality - everything is One and comes from the One Origin. It is the human being, or rather the nature of their self (ego), divides the whole into two opposites like some kind of a filter or prism that splits the light into different ranges, creating a spectrum of colors. This way, human being perceives the world within the scope of the discovered range between two opposite extremes.

It is a blessing to know that the perception of diversity of what we get from the Source arises from within ourselves - initially there is no “good” or “bad”, it is all about our perception. The human nature divides the Unity of Being and differentiates it, perceiving different qualities and properties. This truth is hidden from a man - we have “forgotten” about it, as O’Sensei says. The Architect of creatures is single. Within Him, “the opposite extremes”, causes and effects, – everything is united into the single concept – the “One”, which means beyond space and any change. And everything has equal value within Him.

Further, the perception of what comes from the Source depends only on the qualities of the one who receives it (a creature, a human being). And human qualities do not allow them to perceive the Unity, which is the “defect” of the human being.

The inability of human beings to perceive the integrity of the true reality is the fault (defect) which they can fix through their own efforts! More than that, fixing is the mission of the human being in this world. And Aikido practice, if used appropriately, can be the tool for achieving this goal.

In other words, human beings are initially, due to the nature, are missing the virtue of feeling the integrity in their lives. A man feels joy, pain, passion, hate which brings them to different actions – “positive” and “negative” – and these extremes are the product of human nature and are manifested only in their perception. Human qualities “for self”, “into self” separates the Unity into “convenient for self” parts in order to enjoy them. But this process is destructive and defective – “for the one who separates life breeds death”. “Divide and conquer” – that is the motto of the egoistic human self which creates only pain and suffering.

Morihei Ueshiba has discovered “the cure for the sick world” in order to heal the deficiency of the human nature. Aikido practice, as a powerful cure in appropriate hands, creates the conditions for the human being where they need to generate anti-egoistic forces. These forces are able to balance the egocentric tendencies of the human nature (self) by changing the human qualities. And then, one can see that there is no need to divide anything, there are no enemies and no reason to fight. Aikido practice is the Path to reveal the perception of the integrity of the world, which leads to the discovery of the harmony and all good things prepared for us in the true fulfilling Unity.
